TASMAN SCHOOL COMMITTEE
MEETING OF HOUSEHOLDERS There was a fair attendance at the meeting of householders on Monday evening. Mr G. P. H. Baldwin presiding. Reporting on the activities of the committee during the past term of office, the chairman made reference to the increased attendance at the school, the erection of the new classroom, provision of additional playing area, improved dental clinic facilities and general improvement of the schoolgrounds under the direction of the head teacher. Mr Humphreys. The finances were in a sound condition. Plans for the immediate future included the erection of an up-to-date teacher's residence, and extensions to curbing and concrete drill area. Pupils from Tasman had attended technical classes in Motueka. The excellent work of the teachers. Mr Humphreys and Miss Baigent was emphasised and regret was expressed that Miss Baigent would be leaving the school at the end of the term. Mr L. B. Robinson voiced the thanks of the parents for the work accomplished by the retiring committee in the matter of playing area, and strongly supported the proposed extension of the concrete paths and curbing. Hearty votes of thanks and appreciation of the work of the retiring committee. the teachers and Mr W. B. Easton, who had filled the position of chairman for number of years, but is not seeking re-election, were carried. The election resulted in the return of the four retiring members of the committee. who offered themselves for reelection—Messr G. P. H. Baldwin. J. McLachlan, R. Coleman, and the Rev. A. M. Ferguson. Mr J. Moore was elected to replace Mr Easton. At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr Baldwin was elected chairman and Mr Coleman, secretary and treasurer.
