MAN DRUNK IN CHARGE OF MOTOR VEHICLE * BLENHEIM CASES [By Telegraph—Press Association 1 BLENHEIM, This Day. Two men who were previously convicted of intoxication in charge of notor vehicles were dealt with by Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M., this morning ivhen one was sentenced to a month’s ; imprisonment and disqualified from driving for two years; and the other was remanded for further consideration of penalty. The police prosecutor said that a constable followed Albert Teuton, farmer, from town and arrested him on the outskirts for being drunk in charge, of a motor truck. Teuton was convicted fort l a similar offence seven years ago. The Magistrate, deferring sentence, said he was seriously considering a tei m of imprisonment, but if he im- j posed a fine it would be heavy with! lengthy disqualification. Hervey George Gregory, a labourer, who narrowly avoided a collision in the! centre of the town when driving in a state of intoxication, had a quantity of beer in the car when arrested. He was previously convicted nine years ! ago. The Magistrate said he had no ’ option but to impose imprisonment. “I hope motorists addicted to liquor take notice of this.’ The license was cancelled and Gregory was disqualified for two years.
