The Government approved of a Bill appropriating £900.000 for the Olympic Games, of which £550.000 will be devoted to a swimming stadium, baseball and hockey fields, and a cycling track, and the remainder for roads converging on the stadium. Mi W. E. Leadley. president of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association. and one of the best-known of its officers for many years, announced at a meeting of the executive last evening that he intended to retire from office in May. His appointment as Dominion organiser for the New Zealand Disabled Soldiers Civil Re-establish-ment League at Wellington makes it impossible for him to continue his active service with the association.
