BRITISH INTERESTS TO BE SAFEGUARDED I British Official Wirelesnl (Received 29th March, 10.2 a.m.) RUGBY, 28th March. Answering several questions in the House of Commons concerning the recent expropriation of foreign oil interests in Mexico, Mr R. A. Butler, Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, said the Government had under consideration various steps which might be open to them to take to deal with the situation. The House might rest assured that the Government would do its best to safeguard British interests in Mexico. Meantime, Mr Butler referred members to the assurances I of the President of Mexico that the expropriation measures taken against foreign oil interests would not be extended to other interests.
