THE CHANGING SUN
The varying diameter of the suit as seen from Earth is, perhaps, not generally regarded as worthy of attention, but astronomers arc well aware of the difference between the apparent solar breadth in January and July. In January the sun is at the least distance from the earth, which is 3 per cent below that at midsummer, or over 3,000.000 miles. The amount of heal! received from the sum is also greater, but this is very much modified locally 1 by the position in latitude.
