SHOOTING OF FRENCHMAN
INDEMNITY PAID BY SPANISH GOVERNMENT PERPIGNAN, Bth February. The Spanish Government has indemnified the family of Sebastian Juanole to the amount of £I3OO. A cable received on Bth December stated that while returning from a dance accompanied by his sister and a young Spanish friend who had taken refuge in France, Sebastian Juanole, a French farmer, aged 18, was shot dead by Spanish carabiniers just inside the French frontier near St. Laurent de Cerdagne. The carabiniers had told the refugee to follow them acr .s the frontier, but he ran away. Juanole intervened and was shot. The Spanish aqthorities later advised the French polige that three carabiniers were being charged with the murder of Juanole, and were being transferred to Barcelona for trial.
