GISBORNE, This Day. The Poverty Bay Turf Club’s summer meeting opened to-day in overcast weather. There was a good attendance. Results:— First Hurdles Handicap, of £115; one and a half miles.—4 Summer Hill, 9.0 (Shield), 1; 1 Count Willonyx, 9.9. L; 2 Good Hunting, 10.9, 3. Also started: Bothwell, Charade. Vestry and Good Hunting were bracketed. Won by a neck, two lengths. Time. 2.47 2-5. Telegraph Hack Handicap, of £110; seven furlongs—2 Screen Star, 7.13 (Goldsbro). 1; 1 Minnow. 8.0. 2; 3 Quaint. 8.6. 3. Scratched: Ruinette. Gay Mimic. Helios. Mahutai. Illinois. Opera Star. Won by a short neck, two lengths. Time. 1.28 4-5.
