TO BE ERECTED AT AUCKLAND y £60,000 CONTRACT LET {By Telegraph—Press Association! AUCKLAND, 20th December. A tender for the building on Jean Batten Place which is to replace the old Shorlland Street Post Office demolished over a year ago and house Government departments has been let to the Fletcher Construction Company, and work on the excavating is to begin immediately after the holidays. It was stated to-day on behalf of the firm that the tender is for the foundation work and basement and also the structural steel for the full height. A feature of unusual interest is that the steel frame is to be welded instead of riveted. The contract price is in the region of £60,000.
