ITALIANS IN AUSTRALIA
LONDON PAPER’S CRITICISM LONDON, sth December. Criticism of Australia's action in admitting large numbers of Italian settlers is made in a leading article in the "Sunday Express." The article says:—"lmmigrants from Italy are pouring into Australia.. They arrive with no possessions except the clothes they are wearing. In a tew months they are buying small holdings. They have gained control ol Australia s sugar industry. The Italian Government finances these immigrants. In return they send back money to Italy. “If a Briton goes to Australia House and asks about emigration he is told that no literature on the subject is available, and nobody will tell him anything about it. Australia turns a cold eye on immigrants. She would be much wiser if she opened the door a little wider to British settlers.
