TRATHEN’S V. COLLEGE Trathen's scored 92 in their innings. G. Shaw 28 and J. Gales 29, took the r wore to 65 for the third wicket. The College bowling was very steady. O. ~ Haycock bowled 17 overs and took five ’ for 31; and G. Rapley took three for 8 off nine overs. College scored 24 and 58. A. Tanner batted very well in making 26. Others who made headway were O. Haycock 8. and 6. N. Smith 9, D. Lane 6, and D. Loveridge 6. For Trathen’s, J. Gates took four for 11, G. Shaw three for 13, A. Hobern five for 23, and A. Hay two for 0, and three for S. A feature of the game was a hattrick bowled by G. Shaw in College’s first innings. Other features were brilliant catching by O. Rennie, who took eight catches, and the smart fielding by the College team with J. McKenzie outstanding. NELSON V. WAKEFIELD The Nelson club had trouble in getting their team to travel to Wakefield and arrived with only seven players. Wakefield did well to get the experienced Nelson players out for 12 runs in the first innings. V. Davies three for 5 and N. Martin three for 6 took the wickets. Wakefield scored 42, of which D. Franklyn made 23. E. Field five for 10 off 12 overs and M. Haase five for 19 off 13 overs were Nelson’s bowlers. Nelson did much better in their second innings, reaching 82, E. Field 26. A. Birkett 20, R. Sowman 10 and D. Stapp 8 were the chief scorers. V. Davies bowled exceptionally well and took four for 9 off 11 overs. Wakefield at the call of time had scored 23 for one wicket, V.
