FLOODS IN VICTORIA

LAND LINES DISORGANISED FARMS INUNDATED IN GIPPSLAND ll'nited Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copy rightl MELBOURNE, 19th October. The floods in Victoria have disorganised the Australian land lines. There has been no rain in the metropolitan area since 9 o’clock last night. Most of the rivers and creeks are receding and the general flood peril appears passed.

The River Yarra overflowed near Kew and reached the doorsteps of the houses. It partly covered three golf courses and seriously damaged market gardens. A hundred square miles of rich fields and farms has been inundated in southern Gippsland.
