The Public Trust Olllcc headquarters building extends along Stout street as far as Ballanee street, to which it has quite a presentable frontage. Between that part of the building and the Occidental Hotel on Lambton Quay are four separate properties. Running from east to west these arc the British and Foreign Bible Society’s soldidly-buili three-storey brick building, with a 24ft frontage by a depth of 75ft Gin; the Bowen Garage, in the Kirkcaldie estate, 35ft frontage by 75ft in depth; the F. E. Ward building (P/lentcath. Ward and Maeassey), 34ft Gin by 75ft; and a vacant section owned by Mr F. N. R. Meadows, 35ft frontage by 75ft in depth. Of these properties the Government has acquired by proclamation the Bible Society’s building, the motor garage and the vacant section. According to Mr Ward, his property has not so far been taken by the Government. If that were done the Government would own all the property on the southern side of Ballanee street from the Occidental Hotel to the Wellesley Club.
