Every now' and again we read in the papers that "one more unfortunate” has paid the penalty for smoking in bed How many have lost their lives in that way, who can say? Smokers are often stupidly careless. Smoking in bed is certainly a dangerous habit, but because some smokers persist in running foolish risks, is that any reason why all smoking should be taboo? As reasonable would it be to prohibit all sport because some sportsmen are foolhardy. But smoking in bed is not the only dangerous habit practised by smokers What about the habitual use of tobacco well-known to be full of nicotine? And there arc lots of brands like that, which may affect heart, throat, or nerves.
