SCARBOROUGH, 9th September When the cricket match. New Zealand v. Leveson-Gower's XI was resumed, the ail speed attack of Gover, Nichols, and Wellard set the tourists, a difficult task on a hard, fast wicket. Five were out for 150 four being caught by the wicket-keeper or in the slips oft’ snicks. Hadlee was in brilliant form, driving powerfully. His score included six fours and one six. The New Zealanders batted briskly, scoring much faster than the opposing team yesterday. Moloney hit four fours in a brief, bright, innings. Donnelly was also enterprising. Weir was confident and aggressive at a difficult time. He hit eight fours. Eight wickets were down for 204 runs. COWIE’S HIGHEST SCORE Lowry and Cowie smote the pace bowlers despite a new ball, adding 74 runs. Cowie chose an opportune time to knock up his highest score of the tour. He hit almost every ball, scoring seven fours. Lowry kept pace in a partnership which lasted only half an hour. New Zealand accomplished a fine performance in dismissing five of the opposition batsmen. Brilliant fielding enhanced the deadliness of the bowling. Kerr made a good catch at square leg and Cowie was responsible for a spectacular one-handed effort at mid-off. Roberts made a good running catch at the sight screen and Gallichan held a cannon ball return from HardstafT. Gallichan bowled disconcertingly, blending teasing length and varied flight. The attendance was again good, approximately 10,000.
