MEETING OF MURCHISON LODGE INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS The half-yearly summoned meeting of Murchison Lodge No. 86- U.A.0.D., was held in the lodge room at Murchison on Saturday evening. There was a fair attendance, apologies being received from some members. It was resolved that a donation of £4 10s be made to the King George V Memorial Fund. An official visit was received from the District President (Bro. S. Stephens), who was accorded full Druidic honours upon entering the lodge to instal the following officers for the ensuing term: A.D., Bro. A Bruce: V.A., Sister E. I. French: secretary, Bro. French; treasurer, Bro. P. Clough; 1.G., Bro. G. French; 0.G., Bro. K. Brown; A.D.B’s., Sister French and Bro. G. H Brown; V.A.B’s., Bros. McLaughlin end G. Day. All the officers returned thanks for
ieir election, and a hearty vote of
thanks to the Installing Officer, for the very capable and efficient manner in which he performed his duties, was,carried by acclamation.
The following visitors were present: P.D.P. Bro. F. M. Day, P.D.P Bro. G. Jamieson, P.D.P. Bro. W. W. Delaney, P.A. Bro. T Preen, JP.A. Bro. R. Hill, and Bro. C. Wilson (Maitai Lodge), P.D.P. Bro. J. McGreevy, J.P.A. Bro. R. Moloney, and Bro. Robertson (Buller Lodge). In replying to the welcome extended tc the visitors. Bro. Day said the members from Murchison were exceptionally pleased to have the opportunity of meeting the members from the Buller Lodge, and expressed appreciation of the hospitality received . Bros. McGreevy and Moloney in thanking the Murchison Lodge, stated that it was the intention of their lodge visiting Murqhison and Nelson at the end of the year or in February of next year. The speakers gave a very interesting account of their new lodge building and the official opening held on 11th June. On the last meeting of Pioneer Lodge No. 2 (juvenile branch. Buller) eleven new members were initiated and several more proposed for membership; and good progress was being maintained in all the lodges on the West Coast. At the conclusion of the meeting a very enjoyable supper was served, and the proceedings concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem.
