WEATHER IN APRIL
Both rainfall and sunshine in Nelson were below the average in April. The rainfall, distributed fairly evenly over the whole month, with no heavy fall on any one day, totalled 2.21 ins. compared with the average of nearly 3 ins. In April last year 3.08 ins. was recorded in Nelson. So far this year 11.92 ins. of rain has fallen. The sun shone for 166 hours 5 minutes during the month past, giving a daily average of 5 hours 32 minutes. This compares with 168 hours 10 minutes of sunshine in April last year, while the average for the month, taken over the last 15 years, is about 186 hours. The Government Research Orchard recorded 1.55 inches for Apiil, bringing the total for the year to date to 12.51 inches.
