CORONATION FILM ARRIVES IN DOMINION

PAGEANT OF EMPIRE

Recent cabled advice to the New Zealand Press sfated that Warper Bros, were making a film to be entitled “The King’s People,’ which would be available for release in the various countries of the British Empire during Coronation Week. The New Zealand office of the company now announce that the completed film has arrived here, and those who have seen it state that it is a thrilling glorification of Britishers and the British Empire. “Warner 8r05.,” says Mr Gebrge MDillon, in charge of the company here, “have displayed considerable initiative in making this picture, and I feel sure that everybody living under the Union Jack will not only be entertained but inspired by the pageant of Empire which is ‘The King’s People.’ ” As stated in the cable news, “The King’s People" was produced from a script written by the late Mr John Drinkwater, and it contains special sections devoted to New Zealand, the other Dominions and India,

Two copies of the film were despatched to New Zealand by Air Mail imm» diately upon completion of production. In the late Mr Dririkwater’s ,own words: “The idea is to present the spirit of Empire through actual pictures and dramatic dialogue. Such questions as ‘What Is The British Empire?’ ‘How Did If Happen?’ ‘What Does It Mean?’ are asked and answered. Such fundamental themes are illustrated by pictures most appropriate to each subject.” The associate producer of "The King s People” was Mr John Stumar, and many of the shots were taken at the Drinkwater studios in London. Moving pictures of the great events of the last 3'j yeprs have been selected for inclusion in ‘ The King’s People.” Mr Dillon slates that he anticipates that this special Coronation film will be seen by many thousands of people in New Zealand, as this country is famous for its loyalty to the British Crown.
