PRICE FOR GREASY MERINO (United Press Association —By Electiio Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 25th January. At the wool sales 13,598 bales were offered, 10,360 sold, and 670 privately. Best wools weie practically unchanged in price, but there was further irregularity for average and inferior descriptions of fleece of skirtings, especially when carrying fault, and these ruled in the buyers’ favour. Greasy Merino made 284 d. The average price of wool last week was £23 6s a bale, or 18.9 d a lb. POOR SELECTION LONDON WOOL SALE NEW ZEALAND CLIPS (Received 26th January, 1.10 p.m.) LONDON, 25th January. At the wool sales 7826 bales were offered, including 2683 from New Zealand. A total of 6525 bales was sold. There was a poor selection. Best kinds were in sustained demand, but inferior sorts were frequently withdrawn. The home trade secured the bulk at generally current rates. New Zealand greasy crossbreds sold as follows: “Tauroa,” top price 21d, average 18j;d; slipe halfbred lambs, “Pareora,” top price 24id, average price 24Ad. On the Bradford market merinos further eased. Crossbreds are barely steady. There was no great business in tops and yarns, but consumption was fully maintained.
