ILLEGAL STRIKE ALLEGED
PROCEEDINGS TO BE TAKEN MINISTER OF LABOUR’S INSTRUCTIONS (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, This Day. By instruction from the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong proceedings are to t»e taken against 40 men who are employed on the Birkenhead sewerage reticulation contract who were concerned in a dispute with the contractors, on the ground that they took part m an ® Xll The Labour Department has also been instructed to proceed personally against T. Stanley, secretary, of the Auckland General Labourers Union for allegedly inciting a strike. The men engaged in the dispute are members of the Auckland General Labourers’ Union, and were working under an award. They demanded higher wages.
