ODDFELLOWSHIP

LOYAL NELSON LODGE NO. 3615, M.U. The growth of the Manchester Unity was amply demonstrated by the large attendance at the quarterly meeting of the Loyal Nelson Lodge. Bro. C. E. Hammond, NG., presided, and was assisted by the following officers: I.P.N.G. Bro. G. S. Coleman (acting), V.G. Bro. Trotter, Guardian Bro. H. W. Prebble, Warden Bro. A. Dayman, E.S. Bro. L. Bullock, Pianist Sis. Dinnear.

Correspondence, including the surgeon’s report, was dealt with, all claims for sick and funeral benefits being passed for payment. Four new members were Bro. E. J. Curry acting as conductor, asisted by Bro. A. Dayman, and at the completion of the initiation ceremony the new members were accorded the honours of the order. The Noble Grand extended a welcome to members of the Loyal Howard Lodge and, other visitors present, Bro. C. Parsons replying on behalf of the Howard Lodge. Bro. A. Pellew congratulated the officers on the impressive way they had conducted the initiation ceremony, Bro. Pellew saying that the singing of the odes put the finishing touches to these functions and he was pleased to congratulate the Lodge on their performance. The Lodge went into harmony for half an hour and the ladies handed round supper which was much appreciated by all.

When Lodge resumed Bro. Coleman notified members that the social commitee had decided to hold a Christmas tree on Tuesday, 22nd December, and he hoped it would be possible to. get a full list of members’ children up to 12 years of age. After several other items of business had been dealt with the Lodge was closed by thfi'N.G. and the young folks spent two hours at dancing, at which Mr Harold Williams supplied excellent music.
