CORONATION DECORATIONS

CITY COUNCIL APPOINTS COMMITTEE The Nelson City Council at last night’s meeting appointed a committee to report on suitable decorations in the city for the King’s Coronation in May. Councillor H. G. B. Hurst pointed out to the Council that decorations for the Coronation would soon have to be given consideration. He hoped the Council would adopt some uniform scheme of decoration instead of having various parts of the town putting up a variety of decorations. If some suitable decorations were to be imported the order would soon have to be forwarded, and he favoured such action instead of leaving - it until the last minute and taking whatever was available just before the event. The decorations should not be expensive ones, but they should be uniform and neat. Councillors Hurst, Harley, McArthur and Fitz-Gerald were appointed a committee to report on Coronation decorations.
