. 'WELCOME REBEKAH LODGE The fortnightly meeting of Welcome Rebekah Lodge No. L'J was held in the Rechabite Halt, the N.U., Sister Sherwood presiding over the usual good attendance of ineiiibers. A motion of •sympathy with Sister Cook in her recent sad bertmvement wa,s passed. It was reported that. Sister Cools was still in 'hospital. Accounts amounting to £9 6s 2d were passed lor payment. included in tne correspondence was an imitation from Tasman Lodge to attend the installation of their Lodge. The quarterly circular from Grand Lodge was received, and, among other matters, nominations for Grand J.odge representative to attend Grand Lodge Session at Palmerston Aoitli in March nexu were u-ueu. It was decided to nominate Bio. G. C. Gordon, D.D.G.M., as representative. A further candidate was proposed lor membership. Ihe initiation will be held bv the new officers. who are to be installed next. Lodge night. The hncial Commit,tee reported that another caret evening had been held since last meeting, and had been very succcssiiil. A was proposed to have another such evening. It was also reported that an in\*\at!on had been received from Leaver Rebekah Lodge at Blenheim to attend their installation of officers, and that an endeavour was being made to arrange for a party to make the tup. It was decided to hold a dance aftei the next installation of officers. After the meeting was closed the members and friends were entertained at a very enjoyable concert which had beer arranged bv Sister Oliver in aid ol tne funds for tlie Children’s Christmas tree, items were rendered by Thelma lophss (pianoforte solo); Pauline McKenzie (tap dance and hornpipe): Miss Blackman (song); Mrs G. Butler (recitation); Barbara "Oliver (acrobatic and Russian dances) ; Sister N. Stent (recitation); Shirley Kelly (tap dance): Miss Joyce Cook (recitation); and little Betty Smith (Russian dance and jig), the accompanists being Mr H. Williams. Mrs Smith, and Miss Day. All of the items were thoroughly appreciated, and each performer was recalled for an encore. Ihe Noble Grand thanked the performers for their willing assistance, and stated that the Children’s Christmas Tree Fund ( would very materially benefit from the concert. Mrs Oliver also thanked the performers who had come forward so willingly to make the concert the success it was. Supper was served during an interval, and was also much appreciated. _____
