INTOXICATION CHARGE
MOTOR TRUCK DRIVER FINED (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A fine of £SO and the cancellation of his license for two years were imposed by Mr Levvey S.M., to-day, on Robert Alexander Johnston, carrier, on a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a motor truck. Johnston pleaded not guilty.
The evidence showed that Johnston’s truck levelled a well-lit concrete safety zone and that he was under the influence of liquor when examined at the police station.
The defence was that Johnston was suffering from concussion due to the smash. Bad visibility was blamed for the smash.
