WRESTLING

BLOMFIELD V. KRUSE TO-NIGHT Nelson wrestling enthusiasts are looking forward with keen interest to the match which is to be staged at the Majestic Theatre to-night. The contestants will be “Lofty” Blomfield. holder of the New Zealand title and one of the biggest drawing cards the game in this country has known, and Bob Kruse (Portland) who has been a serious “threat” to wrestling champions of all descriptions during his career. Kruse will not be attempting to deprive Blomfield of his New Zealand title but he is anxious to avenge his recent defeat at Blomfield’s hands in which he was injured as the result of being thrown out of the ring. Kruse is admittedly one of the world’s toughest wrestlers, being powerful and fast and exceptionally well versed in the scientific side of the sport. He is a wrist lock specialist but has a wide range of other holds at his disposal. He is also a wrestler of the aggressive type and keeps the crowd in a constant state of excitement while he is in the ring. In this he will find Blomfield playing up to him to the full as the New Zealander is in his element when the proceedings become rugged. He realises that he possesses in his elbows an attacking asset that Kruse will find hard to counter and can be relied upon to exploit this form of attack to the utmost. Mr Alf Jenkins of Wellington will referee this match. Four good amateur contests have been arranged to fill the first portion of the programme. Lex Logan’s band will render items between 7.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and also during the interval. The box plan which is at Ralph Thomas’s Trafalgar street closes definitely at 6 p.m. this evening. Telephone reservations will not be entertained, full particulars are advertised in this issue. — ■■■ -■ - r
