HAMPDEN TENNIS CLUB

OFFICIAL OPENING ON SATURDAY COURTS NOW IN GOOD ORDER The official opening of the Hampden Tennis Club was held on Saturday last when a record number of players attended. Mr A. Robinson (president) in a few well-chosen words introduced Mrs H. Atmore who officially opened the courts for the season, in the unavoidable absence of Mr H. Atmore, M.P., patron of the club. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the Ladies’ Committee, and the official (able included Mrs IT, Atmore, Mr A. Robinson (president), Mr and Mrs C. H. Griffin, Mr and Mrs J. G. McKay, Mr and Mrs S. H. Wearing, Mr and Mrs P. S. McLaren, Mrs C. Russell, Mrs K. Ir.wood.

At the end of the last piaymg season the courts were in need of attention and with a view to effecting improvements representations were made to the School Committee and tho Education Board. The board, committee and club co-operated in finding the necessary funds to topdress the courts which ore now in excellent condition. The Club wishes to express its appreciation to the board and the committee for again making the courts available, and for the splendid playing conditions which would not have been possible without their assistance.
