ODDFELLOWSHIP
LOYAL HOWARD LODGE The Loyal Howard Lodge, M.U.L.0.0.F., held their fortnightly meeting, Bro. G. L. Housiaux presiding, assisted by the other officers, Bro. V. Stade, 1.P.N.G., Bro. R. Mcßae, V.G., and Bro. C. Parsons, E.S. One new member was initiated into the order, Bro. G. Scott acting as conductor. The honours of the order were given to the newly-initiated members by Bro. V. Stade. Among the correspondence dealt with was a letter from the Maitai Lodge, U.A.0.D., informing the Howard members that Wednesday, 14th October, would be more convenient for the proposed cribbage match between the two lodges. It was resolved that the secretary write to the Maitai Lodge Inviting them on that date. Howard members will note that the lodge will assemble at 7 p.m. on the 14th October; Another item of great interest to all Oddfellows is the coming to Nelson of the Grand Master of New Zealand, Bro. Blair, and also the general secretary, Bro. Shrimpton. The official welcome to Nelson will take place on 28th October. Arrangements for the programme are in hand and will be advertised later. , Next Saturday a number of brothers and sisters will pay a visit to the Brightwater Lodge and they are looking forward to a very pleasant evening. The N.G., Bro. Housiaux, extended a very hearty welcome to Bro. Stewart (Director), and also to Bro. G. John-, son, P.G., as well as the other visitors present. Bros. Stewart and Johnson suitably replied. Bro. Dayman returned thanks on behalf of the Loyal Nelson Lodge members.
The lodge closed at 8.45 p.m., after which members enjoyed themselves with cards and games. The Social Committee handed round a welcome supper.
