NEW LEGISLATION

INDUSTRIAL EFFICIENCY BILL (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. A speeding-up of the work of Parliament is likely to take place from now on with the object of having the session finished by the end of this month. The Prime Minister; Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, stated after a meeting of Cabinet on Saturday that there was still a considerable amount of legislation to be passed before the House could adjourn finally, and the work would accordingly be accelerated to some extent.

Mr Savage reiterated his previous statement that if the Industrial Efficiency Bill now before the House was not wanted by those whose interest it was designed to serve it would not be proceeded with. As it stands at present there have been six speakers on the second reading stage, including the Minister of Industries and Commerce, and, taken all round, there has been fairly strenuous criticism from the Opposition members who have spoken. The debate on the Bill will be continued when the House resumes tomorrow. g
