TERRITORIAL FORCE
THE SCHEME FOR MODERNISING MOTOR-CYCLE SCOUT PLATOONS (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. As part of a scheme for modernising the present Territorial Force, the Government has authorised the recruiting of a motor-cycle scout platoon in each Territorial battalion. The men will be armed with Lewis guns and will wear berets with an appropriate regimental badge. Such a unit should prove particularly valuable in the Dominion where local territorials may have to deal with enemy landings at various points on a long stretch of coast.
