BATTLE ON TAGUS SECTOR
REBEL ADVANCE TOWARDS MADRID (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright} (Received 3rd October, 2.15 p.m.) LONDON, 2nd October. An important battle on the Tagus sector is in progress including the Toledo front, where the Government forces are making deperate efforts to prevent a rebel advance towards Madrid. Government troops are hastily constructing lines of trenches outside Madrid and are also preparing masses of barbed wire and concrete sandbagged strongposts.
