ACUTE SHORTAGE OF AEROPLANES
WAITING LIST OF PUPILS POSITION IN NEW ZEALAND (By Telegraph—Press Association! NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The rapid growth of interest in air activities in New Zealand has led to an acute shortage of aeroplanes to meet the demand, acording to Mr S. E. Neilson, secretary of the New Zealand Aero Club. Mr Nielson emphasised the fact that something would have to be done to increase the number of machines in the Dominion. “Never in the history of the Aero Club movement in New Zealand has there been such a large number of pupils offering nor such keenness to continue flying among pilots who have gained their tickets,” he said. “It is unfortunate the Government has not been able to supply clubs on loan with any new machines for more than two years. There are waiting lists of pupiis in every club and these were composed of the best type of youth in the country, all of military age. The clubs throughout the Dominion are hoping that at the conclusion of the present air conference in Wellington the Government will be in a position to define its policy and assist clubs to take advantage of the fine material offering for training first class pilots.”
