Mr Charles Lucas to-day cabled Barney Ross’s manager asking for an extension of the time until 3 p.m. tomorrow to enable him to secure the remainder of the fight guarantee. Lucas is confident that he will get it. A message from Sydney cabled yesterday stated that the promoter of the Barney Ross-Jack Carroll fight, Mr Charles Lucas, has announced that unless he can raise £6500 by to-mor-row the world welter-weight championship fight fixed for December at Sydney will be cancelled. Mr Lucas has so far been able to raise only £7OOO of the requisite £13,500 guarantee to Ross.
