Stunting near Cardiff, a dozen yards from his home, A. Ellwell, whose family witnessed the tragedy, an aeroplane containing Maurice Keen, G. Berg and Ellwell looped into telegraph wires and crashed in a field. The machine burst into flames and the occupants, who were members of the Cardiff Aero Club, were burnt to death, the heat defying attempts of spectators and firebrigadesmen to rescue them.
