OFFENCES ADMITTED

MAN COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE (United Proas Association) NAPIER, 18th September. Eric Alfred . Chapman, labourer, aged 23 years, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day on twelve charges, including attempted suicide, breaking and entering, damaging a safe, the property of the New Zealand Government, having possession of housebreaking implements, and carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16. Most of the breaking and entering charges concerned operations in Napier and the surrounding- districts. In a statement, the accused admitted the offences, and added- that his rubber shoes, which had left a peculiar mark of identification, were thrown injo the Waikato River at Hamilton. He bought gelignite at-Woodville and detonators at Napier. The accused pleaded guilty|)£nd/was to Wellington for sentence.
