POWER BOARD MATTERS

(To The Editor) Sir.—The outburst of Mr W. Max at the last Powet’ Board meeting, calls for a little comment. According to statements made at the meeting there is a resolution of the, board’s books to cut off a consumer’s supply if his account is overdue. The engineer states he was handed a list of out-standing-amounts amounting to several hundred pounds. Surely this is a shocking state of affairs in such a small concern. The chairman was quite right in putting his foot down. Let me tell Mr Max right here that that is the chairman’s duty, to see that resolutions are carried out, if he does not do so he is not worthy of the position. In the case under review I think he extended every consideration before doing his painful duty, as it speaks for itself, several hundred pounds outstanding. No wonder the board is short of funds. Mr Max told the chairman it was not a one-man board. Mr Max should be the last one to make that statement. Does he remember the time when he himself went to the lower power house and authorised a considerable amount of work to be done without the authority of the board. That action was truly trying to make it a one-man board. — I am, etc., ONE WHO REMEMBERS.
