SECOND TEST
WALLABIES TROUNCED ALL BLACKS WIN BLEDISLOE CUP EXCITING PLAY AT DUNEDIN (By Telegraph—Press Association) DUNEDIN, This Day. Taking complete charge of the game a few minutes after the beginning of the second half, the All Blacks brilliantly and decisively won the Bledisloe Cup. beating the Wallabies in the Second Test by 38 points to 13. The visitors had slightly the better of the play in the first half, and at the change-over led by 13 to 11. The game, which was watched by 28,000 spectators, was played under ideal conditions, for the ground was dry and fast, there being almost an entire absence of sun and a slight wind from the north-west did not affect the play. On the form displayed by the two sides in the first half, it appeared that the final result would be close. The Wallaby forwards played with great dash and brilliance and outshone the All Blacks in the scrums and line-outs. The New Zealanders did not settle down quickly to hard work, and there were too many looking for breakaways. They shone, however, in the loose play and often swept .down-field in fast dribbling rushes, which carried all before them. With the changeover, the game took rather an unexpected turn, when the All Blacks went quickly to the lead and rattled the visitors badly with brilliant passing among the backs and clever combined and individual play by the forwards, who dominated the opposing pack. The crowd was in a frenzy of delight as the All Blacks staged spectacular rushes from one end of the field to the other, and practically every player displayed fine form to trounce the Australians. Only 40-minute spells.. were played, or else the margin of points might have been even greater. For New Zealand tries, were scored by Reid (2), Rankin (2), Mitchell (2), Hart (2) and Watt. Pollock kicked a penalty goal and converted four tries. For Australia, McLaughin and Bridle scored tries, Rankin converted two and kicked a penalty goal.
WELLINGTON DEFEAT TARANAKI RETURN MATCH AT ATHLETIC PARK * WELLINGTON, This Day. Wellington beat Taranaki by 20 points to 12 in a return match between the two provinces at Athletic Park on Saturday. Wellington scored five tries, one being converted, four of them being in the second half, and a penalty goal. Taranaki scored two tries, one being converted, and a potted goal, all in the second half. Taranaki quite held its own in the first half, keeping the score down to 8-0 against a high wind, promising chances being lost through the breakdown of many movements by Wellington. Against the wind in the second half, however, Wellington were distinctly the more effective side, moving on to lead 14-0 and then to one of 20-5, before an unconverted try and a potted goal. brought the score up to 20-12. .. • ,

WIN FOR WEST COAST MATCH WITH CANTERBURY CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. By’B points to nil, the West Coast Rugby representatives beat Canterbury, the fast bustling Coast forwards playing all over the home pack in the loose and harrying the Canterbury backs unmercifully. ASHBURTON DEFEAT SOUTH CANTERBURY ASHBURTON, This Day. Ashburton defeated South Canterbury by 10 points to 6 after a close hard fought game, in which there were few spectacular movements.
