KILLED BY FALL OF EARTH

CORONER’S COMMENT AT INQUEST (By Telegraph—Press Association) OAMARU, 20th June. At the inquest into’ the death of Robert Alfred Warrington (36), who was killed by a fall of earth on the Public Works Excavation at the Debcarah level crossing, a verdict of accidental death through a fall of earth was returned. The coroner, Mr Frith, commented that it seemed to him that the examination by men of the face was superficial, and none was made to see if the face was safe. He thought an error of judgment had been made. He considered that in future when such work was being done searching examinations should be made. It did not appear to him that anyone particularly was to blame.
