■V A SUNNY DAY Mainly fine weather but with some showers in the ranges was predicted in to-day’s weather forecast, variable winds with south-westerlies predominating. Yesterday afternoon in Nelson was bleak and gloomy, but a change came during the night with a fall in temperature, and after three degrees of frost the day was once more clear and sunny. The barometer was rising this morning. A sharp drop in the temperature occurred last night at the Government Research Orchard, where a frost of over eight degrees was recorded. ■ j, ■' The weather was unsettled in the south this morning, the pressure being lower. Over the rest of New Zealand the barometer was steady, but conditions varied from bright and sunny to overcast. Wanganui experienced a gale last night, and Christchurch recorded seven degrees of frost. Rain fell in many districts yesterday.
