FINE DAYS AND COliD NIGHTS Fine weather with cold night but moderate day temperatures were forecast this morning. Cold nights and severe frosts followed by bright, sunny days with almost the maximum of sunshine, are now the rule in Nelson. Almost 17 hours of bright sunshine were recorded during the week-end. The maximum shade temperature has been fairly low, 53 and 52.3 degrees each day.' Frosts of a little over two degrees were recorded on Sunday and Monday at the Cawthron Institute, but were heavier in some parts of the town. The frosts at the Government Research Orchard were 9 and 7.5 degrees for Sunday and Monday respectively. Fine weather extended' over the whole of the Dominion this morning, although pressure was a little lower as compared with Saturday. Light winds mainly from the south and east were general, and several frosts were experienced. The fine weather continued inAuckland during the week-end. but conditions on . Sunday were cloudy and unsettled. It was fine at Wellington on both Saturday and Sunday, but a southerly breeze kept temperatures lew. Gloriously sunny days with frosty nights were experienced in Christchurch, and Dunedin enjoyed bright sunshine on both days.
