EDUCATION BOARD MEMBER RETIRES

TWENTY-FOUR YEARS SERVICE Mr W. C. Baigent at to-day’s meeting of the Nelson Education Board intimated that this term would be his last as a member of the Board, he having decided to retire owing to illhealth.

The chairman (the Hon. V, r . H. McIntyre) said that it was with great regret that they heard of Mr Baigent’s retirement, for during the 24 years he had been on the Board he had given yeoman service to education in the district. Mr Mclntyre hoped that Mr Baigent’s health would improve and that he: would still continue to take an interest in the education affairs of Nelson. All other members also voiced their regret at Mr Baigent’s retirement.
