FARMERS’ UNION AND POLITICS
MR POLSON’S MEETINGS (United Press Association) MASTERTON, 22nd May. Speaking at Masterton yesterday, Mr W. J. Poison, M.P., Dominion president of the Farmers’ Union, made reference to criticism recently levelled at him at a meeting of the Dairy Association at Daunevirke, at which hi" right to speak on political questions as president of the union was challenged. At that meeting Mr Doyle was mentioned in the Press Association report as taking u leading part in ciiticising Mr Poison’s actions. Mr Poison pointed out that tlift J less Association report of the meeting he addressed at Daunevirke on "Wednesday contained no reference to the fact that Mr Doyle had seconded the motion of thanks to him and had stated that he was very well satisfied with Mr Poison’s address and agreed with everything hi it. Although Mi Doj.e had retracted entirely and practically apologised for what had_ been done, there was no mention of it in the report.
