SUPREME COURT

MAN FOUND GUILTY AT NAPIER (By Telegraph—Press Association) NAPIER, 20th May. A verdict of guilty against Ilans Peter Mortensen, of Auckland, on one charge of obtaining money by a false pretence, and not guilty on three similar charges, was returned by a jury at the Supreme Court this afternoon. The charges concerned the obtaining of money for shares in the Tangarakau Coal Mining Company by falsely representing that Mr William Goodfcllow was chairman of directors. A jury also returned a guilty verdict on charges of breaking, entering and theft by night and theft from a dwelling against Martin Peraniko, alias Bobby Martin, a young Maori labourer, of Tikokino. The jury entered a strong recommendation for mercy.
