BASKETBALL NOTES

BY TENTH PLAYER SATURDAY’S MATCHES Somo well contested matches were played on Saturday, under ideal conditions. Y.M.C.A. won from United by default.

McKenzie’s had a decisive win from Rangers by 28 goals to 10. The McKenzie forwards were in form and shooting accurately. Rangers’ defenders were weak, and allowed their opponents too many opportunities of getting into good shooting postitions. Rangers would be well advised to study tho rule hook. W. Pettit (Rangers), played a splendid game, stopping several of McKenzie’s attacking movements. Miss Z. Chenuells refereed.

College O.G. versus Convent O.G. was a fast open game. Play had been in progress about seven minutes before the first score was made. The ball travelled rapidly backwards and forwards, from one end to the other, handled by practically every member of the team. The College team were a little more fortunate in tho goul-throwing and managed ‘o win by 11 goals In 3 Miss Z. Chcnnells refereed. The scoring in the Albion-Tahuna game was very even .and Albion were lucky to win by 11 goals to 10. Hie play in this match was very scrappy, both teams having to be frequently penalised for over defending. The goalthrowing in both team was weak, thus spoiling many opportunities made possible by players in the other bases, bliss’ Z. Chcnnells refereeed. The score was no indication oF the play in the Convent' versus Rivals’ match. Play was very even and the half-time score was 4 all.
