Miss Winnie Richardson won the Flannagan Gup open sea swim of tut? miles and a half from a Held of 16 swimmers in cold, windswept water. Only four of the field finished. Miss Richardson ofT the limit (smi») maintained a lead the whole way and finished four minutes ahead of D. Gayton, last year’s winner, who had the fastest time, 84min 38sec although lie repeatedly suffered from cramp. " Miss L. Wickham, of Stratford, was third, and A. Pettigrew, of Stratford was the only other to finish.
