SHIPOWNER^WARNING LOSSES CANNOT LONGER BE CARRIED LONDON, 2Cth March. The Hon. Alexander Shaw (chairman of the P. and 0. Company), in a statement to “The Times,” said lie was gratified at the proposed London Conference which had been delayed until the, eleventh hour. The losses on the Canadian and Australian Line in 19114 reached six figures sterling. Under present conditions, survival was out of the question. Losses had been continuous and now could not be supported. If the Governments really wish to retain a British service between their territories and not rely on a foreign subsidised service, prompt decision was essential. RADIO TALK HON. M. J. SAVAGE AND DOMINIONS’ SECRETARY NO MINISTER TO ATTEND (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. A radio telephonic communication between Mr Malcolm MacDonald, Secretary of State for the Dominions, in London, and the Prime Minister, the Hon. M. J. Savage, was held last night in the Prime Minister's room in Parliament Buildings, which was connected with the various services. The communication was perfect. Later Air Savage explained that the object of Mr MacDonald’s call was to learn whether New Zealand could send a Minister to London to take part in the conference between the British and Dominions’ representatives on the questions of air mails and subsidised shipping in the Pacific. Air Savage informed Air AlacDonald that there was no possibility of sending a Alinister to London. The policy of the New Zealand Government, however, would be submitted to the conference by the High Commissioner, Sir James Parr, with whom the Government would he in close communication as to details.
