The Firestone Air Spring, embodying an entirely new principle of automobile suspension and a “soft” yet stable ride, which was introduced to members of the Society of Automobile Engineers by its inventor, Mr R. W. Brown. The air spring consists of an especially developed rubberised fabric bellows (1) which is inflated with air to carry the desired load. The bellows operate automatically in conjunction with an air reservoir (2) by means of a pendulum shock absorption valve (3) The bellows and tubing aer connected by a metal tubing (4).
