TUBERCULOSIS SANATORIUM

AUCKLAND PURCHASES SITE ON HILLS (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, 24th March. A decision to purchase a site on the Bombay Hills for a tuberculosis sanatoi’ium was made by the Auckland Hospital Board at a special meeting held for the purpose of considering a building programme. It was indicated that the board had definitely abandoned an earlier proposal to build a chest hospital within a short distance of the city. The chairman, Mr W. Wallace, said the Waipukurau and Otaki sanatoria were full at present. Even if they were not he failed to see why the board should expend a large sum of the maintenance of patients outside its own district and compel them to make a journey of 400 miles. "
