ROSS=CARRQLL BOUT (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) • SYDNEY, 11th March. A hitch has arisen in the negotiations for a world welterweight ■ title boxing match between the holder,' Barney Ross (United States), and the Australian welter champion, Jack Carrol. Despite the boxing promoter Mr C. Lucas’s announcement that he had already arranged a contest through Ross’s agent at New York for next summer, Mr . Munro, manager of the National Boxing Club and Sydney Stadium, now declares that he has been negotiating for a Ross-Carroll fight through Ross’s manager at Chicago, who had informed him that they knew nothing of any arrangement emanating from Mr Lucas. Both Mr Lucas and Mr Munro went to Melbourne and saw Carroll and liis manager, after which Carroll announced that he would adhere to his contract with Mr Lucas and would not fight Ross under any other promoter.
