NEW GOVERNMENT’S PRO GRAMME

OPINION OF AUSTRALIAN BUSINESSMEN

(Received 28th January, 1.15 p.in.) SYDNEY, This Day. Three prominent businessmen, Messrs S. Gestetner, G. Springluill, and E. A. Callanan, who arrived at Sydney by the Moiiowai, individually expressed the opinion that New Zealand was surging forward on a wave of prosperity. Mr Gestetner referred particularly to the development of the smaller towns which he said were far ahead of any towns of similar size he had visited during a world tour.

Mr Springhall said that the new Government’s programme seemed sane and moderate.

Mr Callanan said he had been greatly impressed by the policy to which the new Government subscribed. The heads of the Government promised sane, moderate administration. He exnressed tho opinion that they were solid and conscientious, and had the ability to maintain if not increase tho prosperity New Zealand had already regained.
