MAORI GIRL EQUALS RECORD AT JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS [By Telegraph—Press Asso'ciatioul HAMILTON, 27th January. • Tn her heat of the fifty yards junior girls’ free-style championship the Maori girl. Xawi Kora (South Auckland) equalled the New Zealand record of 29 4-sssec at the national junior and intermediate swimming championships at Hamilton this morning. As on Saturday, she was completely \mpressed by the opposition and won .the heat comfortably by a considerable margin. Results of heats in the championship events are as follows: —

With the exception of the 220 yards intermediate hoys’ free style, where the first and second platings only enter the filial, the three placed competitors in (Re heats have qualified for the finals.
NEW ZEALANDERS UNSUCCESSFUL

P. Mathieson and W. J. Jarvis, New Zealand, were unsuccessful in their final appearance at Melbourne on Saturday in the Victorian 220 yards freestyle championship, finishing equal fifth. The title was won by Alan Crawford in' 2min 28soc.
