MAN KILLED
CAUGHT BY FALL OF GRAVEL (By Telegraph—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, 14th January. John Dawson, aged 49, of Gorge rbad, was killed this afternoon through being caught in a fall of gravel in a pit. With his son and two other-men Dawson was filling gravel from the Gorge road pit into a lorry, which was backed against a gravel face 19 feet high. The face suddenly gave way on one side of the lorry, catching Dawson and another workman named [George Duncan.. The. latter jumped aside and, though caught about the legs, he escaped unhurt. Dawson tried to evade the falling gravel, hut was almost covered. Dawson was soon extricated, but died within ten minutes.
